Transgender Hair Loss

NHI has been catering to the hair loss needs of the Australian transgender community for many years.
We understand the aesthetic challenges required to lower and feminise a hairline and are familiar with the various balding medications that are appropriate for the transgender individual that are not suited to rest of the community.
For further information and to discuss your individual circumstances please contact Liz Byrne to arrange a consultation.
Patient J.G. presented to us in 2006 as a 47 year old with a type 3V male pattern balding. The aim was to replace the front hair line to a type 1 male pattern with no bi-temporal recession as is commonly found for females. In the first procedure (April 2006) 2366 grafts were placed into the frontal area. The strands grew through in the year following and was considered a success. Following this a second procedure was performed with 1810 grafts (Feb 2008) to the crown region.
J.G. now has the appearance of a relatively full head of hair with a feminine scalp line. She may on a case by case basis be available to meet with other members of the transgender community to discuss the pros and cons of transplantation and her experiences with NHI. Please discuss this with our medical director during the consultation.
